Foundation..

I at one time in my life had began to build a store room, original intent was to keep all my equipment needed to care for my lake lot, located at the lake, so I would not have to haul them back and forth.  Originally I put allot of thought into to it, used cedar post since they would not rot, cemented them two and a half feet into the ground, so it would not shift, took all the necessary steps to ensure the foundation would survive the elements.  As time progressed I added the floor joist and decking. I then was ready to frame the walls.  However as with allot of things in my life, it was going to have to wait till I saved a few dollars for more material.  Time went on and I returned months later to take some measurements, only to find, my floor, looked like a mushroom, curling, at the edges, and with warped spots all over.  It looked pitiful!  Hardly was it ready to have walls, much less even stable to sit on.  You see when I added the joist, or floor supports, and the decking for the floor, finances where tight, I skimped on the quality of the wood and also the quantity.  Did not place a joist every 16 inches, more like every 24 inches, to cut back on expense. After all it was all covered up, no one would ever see it right?  But by doing so, I cheated the integrity of my building.

The dictionary states integrity is “a sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition”. Have you checked your integrity today? God compares our body to a house many times through out his word, how is your store room doing?  You did what is needed to secure a strong foundation in the Lord, accepting His freely given foundation in Christ. Have you since followed building your spiritual house as required to withstand a storm? Or have you lax-ed and skimped on the things needed, doing just enough to get by.  After all no one see’s what goes on in your head and your life behind closed doors right? Just you and God.  God states ” every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falleth”  Luke 11:17. Heed the words given to us.  We have a foundation to build on that is un-breakable, it will conquer all.  However how we build on that foundation is based on our decisions and what we accept into our life.  What we take part in.  Ask yourself daily as I have recently learned to do, what building block am I securing today?  Build yourself to weather what ever might come your way. Storms and driving rain will come. This we are promised.  Is your “house” going to give your spirit the shelter it needs?

  1. I once tried to build a house with out a strong foundation. Of course it came crashing down every time the wind blew. That house could barely shelter me from a sprinkle.

Thank GOD I learned how to build a better house. A great carpenter himself taught me!!!

Now I live in a home that not even an earthquake could crumble….it may shake it a bit but it’s not going to ruin it.
